Earlier this morning, Martial House conducted the second session of mock competition at Hong Wen School (Indoor Sports Hall). This time round, the mock competition was mainly for the secondary school and junior college students who will be representing their schools in the upcoming National Inter-School Wushu Championships 2015! Just like the previous mock competition, the objective of this session was to familiarize students to the competition setting and procedure. It also serves as a platform for students to make new friends and to learn from one another. Martial House Coach Patrick Lim shared his observation, “The mock competition has definitely met its objectives. It is great to see all these students coming together to learn from one another. However, I feel that some students can be more confident when they are executing their routines. Whether is it their body language or facial expressions, the students should be committed to the movements of their routines. Only then, they are able to reach the next level.” A parent also commented, “It is really nice to see all these students training together and cheering for one another! This should be the spirit! Who says competition is all about winning?! Hopefully there will be more of such events in the future!” Without the active participation of the students and the endless support from the parents and teachers, the mock competition would not have been a success! Special thanks to the Martial House coaches and assistants who made both sessions possible! Hopefully, the students find the mock competition beneficial and should you have any feedback regarding the mock competition, feel free to send an email to [email protected]. With less than 2 weeks to the National Inter-School Wushu Championships 2015, Martial House & Wushu Daze wish all participants the best of luck!

Martial House Mock Wushu Competition 2015 (1)
On 7 March 2015, Martial House conducted a mock Wushu competition for the primary school student participants of the upcoming National Inter-School Wushu Championships 2015. The purpose of the mock competition was to familiarize students to the competition setting and procedure. Also, it serves as a platform for students to make new friends and to learn from one another. Martial House Coach Leo Rui Yan (Reann) commented, “I believe this mock competition is not about comparing which student performed better or to access who has a higher chance of winning. Or rather, it is more about helping students improve their self-confidence so that they are able to perform to their best ability during the actual competition. As long as the students do their best during the competition, they are already winners.” A parent of a student participant of the mock competition also added, “It really takes a lot courage for these young kids to complete a solo performance on the carpet for so many people! If you ask me to go up and perform on my own, I think I will probably just run away! These kids are so impressive!” Martial House would like to thank all students, parents and teachers for spending the time and effort to participate in the mock competition. Hopefully, you find the mock competition beneficial. Should you have any feedback regarding the mock competition, feel free to send an email to [email protected]. Well Done Wushu Contingent @ Chingay Parade 2015!
It was indeed a magnificent display by the 1,000 performers from the Wushu contingent at Chingay Parade 2015! The hard work and commitments of the trainers and performers finally paid off after months of planning and rehearsals! The Wushu contingent was led by former MediaCorp artiste & World Wushu Champion, Mr. Vincent Ng (Chairman & Main Choreographer) and Martial House Managing Director, Mr. Leo Wen Yeow (Vice Chairman). Martial House Coach, Wan GuangYao Eric, was also one of the Assistant Choreographers for the contingent. Without the active participation of Wushu practitioners across Singapore, the Wushu contingent would not have deliver such an impactful performance! Credit goes to the People’s Association (PA) for providing such a platform to unite the different Wushu associations & schools together to work towards a common goal! Otherwise, you may catch a glimpse of the Wushu segment below: https://youtube.com/watch?v=So4qGyfAwns This Chingay experience of the Wushu contingent definitely reminds me of the mission statement of Dewu Pugilistic Association: “Through Wushu, we will be united with friendship and brotherhood, regardless of where we came from.” Photo Credits: Martial House Coach, Wan GuangYao Eric
