IMG_1380 Day 4 of the competition has ended! This means that we are at the halfway mark of the 12th National Primary Schools Wushu Championship 2016! Once again, the Martial House Stars fought hard against strong competitors to attain their hard earned trophies! [Updated] Day 1 of the 12th National Primary Schools Wushu Championship 2016

IMG_1314 It is Day 1 of the 12th National Primary Schools Wushu Championship 2016! The competition began with the opening ceremony with the young athletes reciting the Athletes’ Oath. Martial House Coach, Leo Rui Yan had the honour to recite the Officials’ Oath on behalf of the judges of the competition. IMG_1318 The competition in the 4-Duan Sword events at Court A was indeed intensive, with 55 and 53 participants in the Junior Boys and Junior Girls divisions respectively. Martial House Stars, Austin Chong and Ng Yu Ninn overcame the odds to attain Gold medals in both events with their outstanding execution of the routine! Well done! 4-Duan Sword (Junior Boys): Austin Chong Sze Ze (De La Salle School) – Gold 4-Duan Sword (Junior Girls): Ng Yu Ninn (Haig Girls’ School) – Gold IMG_1320 The students from the Junior Sports Academy (JSA) – Wushu, under the guidance of Martial House coaches, have performed well in today’s competition as well! They have attained a total of 2 Gold, 1 Silver & 2 Bronze! Congratulations! 4-Duan Sword (Senior Boys): Lim Hongrui (Chongfu School) – Gold 5-Duan Sword (Senior Boys): Lee QiYang, Ansel (Rosyth School) – Gold Chan Chiew Lik (Keming Primary School) – Bronze Sword (Senior Girls): Tiffanie Hew Yu Xun (Chongzheng Primary School) – Silver Sword (Senior Boys): Lim Siew Woo (Zhangde Primary School) – Bronze Day 2 of the competition will resume tomorrow at Tao Nan School from 12:30pm onwards. De Wu Pugilistic Association Belt Grading Examination on 27 February 2016

IMG_1028 On 27 February 2016, De Wu Pugilistic Association conducted its first belt grading examination of the year. More than 120 students across the various training locations in Singapore, including community centres and schools, gathered at MHQ for the examination. IMG_1033 With more than 30 years of establishment, the belt grading system serves as a benchmark for students to set and achieve progressive targets throughout the learning journey. Students who passed the belt grading examination will be awarded with certificates of promotion and proceed on to further improve their skills and learn the next set of required routines for the next belt level, motivating them to reach higher goals. This further enhances the Wushu skills and knowledge of students and encourages them to be more proactive in their learning. Hong Bao Presentation cum Lunar New Year Celebration 2016 (12 February 2016) IMG_0753 On 12 February 2016, Martial House was invited to put up a Wushu performance at the Hong Bao Presentation cum Lunar New Year Celebration 2016, organised by the Singapore Organisation of Seamen (SOS) and Seacare Manpower Services Pte Ltd, with Mr. Lim Swee Say, Minister for Manpower as the guest-of-honour. This was especially for the opening item whereby the Wushu performers showcased their moves in dark with their customised illuminated costumes and weapons! 3. Whampoa Chinese New Year Celebration 2016 (12 February 2016) On the same evening, the students from the Wushu team of Hong Wen School were invited to perform at a CNY dinner event at Kallang Community Club. Under the guidance of Martial House Coach Timothy Chan and the teachers, a total of 18 student performers put up an impressive Wushu performance that won the applauses of the audiences! IMG_0773 After the performance, it was a great pleasure for the team to snap a picture with Mr. Heng Chee How, Senior Minister of State (Prime Minister’s Office) & MP for Jalan Besar GRC (Whampoa), who was the guest-of-honour for the evening. 4. The Sheng Siong Show – Season Finale (20 February 2016) 20 February 2016 marks the season finale of the Sheng Siong Show. Over the past weeks, the Martial House Stars have been part of the lucky draw segment under the guidance of the coaches, Jessen Tan & Seow Wei Kai. They were: a. Leo Yi Long b. Desmond Ong c.
