20140405_085002 The Martial House Mock Wushu Competition 2015 (1) will be held on 7 March 2015, Saturday, at Hong Wen School (Indoor Sports Hall). Below are some of the frequently asked questions (FAQs) by students, parents and teachers: 1. Where is Hong Wen School (Indoor Sports Hall) located? 30 Towner Road, Singapore 327829. Kindly enter from gate 6 instead of the main gate. 2. For whom is this mock competition for? The first mock competition on 7 March 2015 is for primary school students (from both ‘Junior’ & ‘Senior’ divisions). The second mock competition on 14 March 2015 is for secondary school & junior college students (from ‘A’, ‘B’ & ‘C’ divisions). 3.  Do I have to pay to participate in the mock competition? No fees will be charged as this is a voluntary event organised by the Martial House coaches and staff to help students better-prepare for the upcoming National Inter-School Wushu Championships. 4. Must the participants wear their costumes? Though it is optional, participants are strongly encouraged to wear their costumes, especially for students competing for the first time. 5. What time will the mock competition starts? Students are to report at 8.30am for a short briefing and warm-ups. The first event will start at 9.00am. 6. What is the events sequence for the mock competition? Two courts (A & B) will be set up. The events sequence for Court A is as follows: A1. 3 Duan Changquan A2. 5 Duan Changquan A3. 1st International Changquan A4. 4 Duan Broadsword A5. 4 Duan Sword A6. 1st International Broadsword A7. 1st International Sword A8. 4 Duan Cudgel A9. 4 Duan Spear A10. 1st International Cudgel A11. 1st International Spear The events sequence for Court B is as follows: B1. 3 Duan Nanquan B2. 5 Duan Nanquan B3. 1st International Nanquan B4. 24-Style Taijiquan B5. 42-Style Taijiquan B6. 3 Duan Broadsword B7. 3 Duan Sword B8. 1st International Nandao B9. 32-Style Taijijian B10. 42-Style Taijijian B11. 3 Duan Cudgel B12. 3 Duan Spear B13. 1st International Nangun After all the individual events, the 2 courts will then be combined to form Court C. The events sequence for Court C is as follows: C1. The results of the 2014 Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (GCE ‘A’ Level) Examination was released on 2 March 2015, Monday. Martial House Star & Team Singapore Wushu athlete, Samuel Tan has performed well by attaining a total of 6 ‘A’s! Samuel was also featured in the 2 March 2015 edition of the Chinese newspaper, Shin Min Daily News for his outstanding performance! In the article, Samuel shared about the challenges faced juggling both Wushu and studies. Also, he shared about his aspirations for the upcoming Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in June. Well done Samuel! I believe your parents are extremely proud of you and you are definitely an inspiration and a role model to many! Martial House @ SAIS CNY 2015!

It was a fun and enjoyable morning at Stamford American International School as students, parents and teachers celebrated the Chinese New Year with Martial House! IMG_1180 There was a series of exciting performances ranging from Diabolo to Dragon Dance! IMG_1175 The thrilling Diabolo performance was performed by Coach Soon Long and his friend, Willis! The unique feature about the performance is that the diabolos were illuminated! IMG_1173 Following, it was the action-packed Wushu performance by: 1. Jessen Tan 2. Kingston Chua 3. Lim En Chang 4. Ng Yu Ninn 5. Koh Hao Xuan 6. Ong Pang Jan 7. Damien Teo 8. Teo Soon Long IMG_1178 The students were then entertained by the traditional lion and dragon dance! IMG_1181 It was definitely a tiring day for all performers as they had to perform 3 consecutive sessions, each session with 700 audiences! That’s a massive total outreach of 2,100 audiences!
