Action-Packed CNY Week with the Martial House Stars!

It was another action-packed week as Martial House welcomes the Year of the Monkey! The Martial House Stars were involved in a series of performances and events to celebrate the Chinese New Year (CNY). 1. Wushu Performances @ Clementi Mall (30 & 31 January 2016) After impressing the shoppers at Clementi Mall the previous week, the Martial House Stars were back once again for more action! Wushu Performances @ Square 2 (31 January & 5 February 2016) The Martial House Stars were back at Square 2 once again to showcase some of their dynamic moves and actions! Ushering in the Year of Monkey with Avnet – IBM – Lenovo (2 February 2016) On 2 February 2016, Martial House was invited to perform in a corporate event “Ushering in the Year of Monkey with Avnet – IBM – Lenovo”. A stage collaboration between the Wushu & Face Changing performances was specially arranged which served as an energetic opening to the event! The performers were: a. Seow Wei Kai b. Yap Zheng Yan c. Cultural Exchange Programme with Japanese Students (3 & 4 February 2016) On 3 & 4 February 2016, Martial House collaborated with Pho Leng Lion Dance Instruction Centre to conduct a Cultural Exchange Programme for a group of Japanese students. Upon arrival, the students were first greeted by the ambassadors through a dynamic performance. Following, the students were introduced to the Chinese traditional and cultural art of Wushu and Lion Dance through an interactive hands-on session facilitated by the ambassadors. CNY Celebration @ Stamford American International School (5 February 2016) For the 4th consecutive year, Martial House and Stamford American International School (SAIS) collaborated to deliver a series of spectacular performances for the students, parents and teachers to celebrate the lunar new year. Besides the traditional Lion & Dragon Dance, there were Chinese Plate Spinning Acrobat, Diabolo (a.k.a. Chinese Yoyo) and Wushu performances. Heineken Got Talent (5 February 2016) On 5 February 2016, the Martial House LED Modern Lions were invited to be part of the opening segment of the “Heineken Got Talent” event. In collaboration with the traditional lion dance team, the performers delivered an electrifying performance! Kudos to the performers from Martial House: a. Ng Teck Hong b. Caston Lim c. Shawn Tan d. Dayton Leem 7. CNY Celebration @ Orchard Hotel Singapore (7 February 2016) To hype up the festive mood and enhance the dining experience at Orchard Hotel Singapore, the God of Fortune & Lucky Monkey from Martial House were invited to share their new year blessings with the guests. Besides the mascots, booths were set up to provide guests with CNY-related souvenirs such as the traditional dough figurines and Chinese fans with customised auspicious greetings calligraphed on them. 8. Lion Dance Cai Qing @ Comms Square Creative Pte Ltd (10 February 2016) The Lion Dance troupe from Martial House was invited to the office of Comms Square Creative Pte Ltd for a Cai Qing performance. “Cai Qing” (a.k.a. “plucking the greens”) is a homonym for “wealth and fortune” whereby the lion(s) will dance to approach to “eat” and then “spit” the green vegetables and oranges. Performances by the Martial House Stars!

It has been an action-packed week for the Martial House Stars as they were actively involved in Wushu performances for a variety of events! As Chinese New Year is just around the corner, Martial House Stars have been invited to perform at various shopping malls and corporate events across Singapore to hype up the festive mood! 1. Wushu Performance @ Clementi Mall (23 & 24 January 2016) Under the guidance of Martial House Managing Director, Mr. Leo Wen Yeow, two groups of Martial House Stars delivered a spectacular performance at Clementi Mall on 23 & 24 January 2016 respectively. The performers were: 23 January 2016 a. Kevan Cheah b. Yap Wei Ren c. Melissa Mak d. Toh Xiang Hao e. Keeve Tan 24 January 2016 a. Ho Lin Ying b. Zoe Mui c. Yap Zheng Yan d. Ng Shinn e. Ng Yu Ninn 2. Wushu Performance @ Square 2 (24 January 2016) On 24 January 2016, the Martial House Stars delivered a Wushu performance at Square 2 which drew the attention and applause of the shoppers. They were: a. Neville Cheong b. Nigel Cheong c. Leo Yi Long d. Chua Xin Qi e. Ng Geng Jui f. Melvin Tan g. Travier Wong h. Brandon Lee After which, the Stars demonstrated some of the useful applications of Wushu. Shoppers were then invited up on stage to practice some of the self-defence techniques which the Stars have demonstrated. P.S. The self-defence demonstration was conducted under the close supervision of the performers. Safety was ensured and no one was hurt throughout the demonstration. 3. Epson Lunar New Year Prosperity Dinner 2016 (29 January 2016) The Martial House Stars were invited to deliver a Wushu performance at the Espon Lunar New Year Prosperity Dinner 2016 event. 3. What is the giveaway period?

The contest will begin on 26 January 2016 and end at 29 January 2016 at 11:59pm. Any submissions received after this time will not be accepted.

5. Can I submit more than once?

You may submit as many entries, however, you will only be able to win 1 prize.

6. What are the prizes?

We’ll be announcing the 88 Wushu participants on Martial House Facebook Page on 30 January 2016. You’ll have until 31 January 2016 to respond with your personal particulars. Kickstart of CNY 2016 Performances

On 16 January 2016, the Martial House Stars have successfully kickstart the performance series for the upcoming Chinese New Year! The first performance for the festive season was held at Square 2 where 8 outstanding athletes delivered a spectacular performance for the shoppers. The performers were: 1. Emily Sin 2. Martial House @ SAIS CNY 2015!

It was a fun and enjoyable morning at Stamford American International School as students, parents and teachers celebrated the Chinese New Year with Martial House! There was a series of exciting performances ranging from Diabolo to Dragon Dance! The thrilling Diabolo performance was performed by Coach Soon Long and his friend, Willis! The unique feature about the performance is that the diabolos were illuminated! Following, it was the action-packed Wushu performance by: 1. Jessen Tan 2. Kingston Chua 3. Lim En Chang 4. Ng Yu Ninn 5. Koh Hao Xuan 6. Ong Pang Jan 7. Damien Teo 8. Teo Soon Long The students were then entertained by the traditional lion and dragon dance! It was definitely a tiring day for all performers as they had to perform 3 consecutive sessions, each session with 700 audiences! That’s a massive total outreach of 2,100 audiences! Performance @ ANZ CNY Event

Earlier this afternoon, our team of Martial House Wushu Stars delivered an exciting performance for the staffs of ANZ Bank during their Chinese New Year Luncheon Event! This performance also featured our young star, Damien Teo, otherwise known as “一万” (or “ten thousand”) in the Sheng Siong Show which is aired every Saturday, 9.00pm at MediaCorp Channel 8.

Also, Happy Birthday to all readers of Wushu Daze as today marks the 7th day of the new lunar new year calendar, otherwise known as, “人日”!

CNY @ Istana Open House 2014

On 1 February 2014, Martial House had the privileged of performing at the Istana for its Chinese New Year Open House! It was the third time Martial House had performed for the event.
