Today, the Intensive Training Week series under the Martial House Year-End Programmes has successfully concluded. During the 5 days of intense training (or 10 for some), under the guidance of the Martial House coaches, students have worked hard to improve their foundation to better execute their routines with precision and confidence. Coincidentally, the birthdays of Martial House Coaches Leo Rui Yan and Timothy Chan fall within the training week. The Martial House team took the effort to plan two separate surprises for both coaches on two separate occasions! Hence, students got to enjoy yummy cakes as an incentive after training for 2 days! Martial House would like to thank all the students and coaches for the hard work! Rest well enjoy the upcoming long weekends!

End of Martial House APEX Camp 2015!
The 2nd edition of the Martial House APEX Camp has come to an end! Through the 4-day camp, campers participated in a wide range of fun and interactive activities to acquire Wushu knowledge and to hone their leadership and communication skills. One of the highlights during the camp was the 7km trekking experience at the Central Catchment Nature Reserve (MacRitchie) – TreeTop Walk. It was definitely a challenging task for the young campers but they managed to persevere and motivate each other to complete the trail! Pek Yu Hao, the youngest camper recalled, “The walk was tiring but we completed (the trail) as a team! The view from bridge was so nice! We don’t get to see this everyday!” After last year’s APEX Camp, many students feedback and suggested to include a night walk activity for the next camp. Hence, during the planning of the camp, the organizing team took the suggestion into consideration and eventually, made Confidence Night Walk into a reality! Upon the completion of the night walk, camper Tristan Yeo said, “It was scary to walk in the dark especially when a frog suddenly jumped out in the forest! Thankfully, my buddy was there to accompany me. It was a fun experience though!” During the last night on 11 December 2015, parents were invited to attend the Finale Night. Certificates were presented to campers for their active participation throughout the camp. Three campers were also presented with special awards. They are: 1. Outstanding Buddy Award – Isaac Ang 2. Outstanding Leader Award – Tristan Yeo 3. Outstanding Camper Award – Brayden Lew Martial House would like to thank the campers for your active participation and to parents for entrusting your children to the Martial House team. “An Athlete, A Coach, An Entrepreneur” by Coach Eric
On 6 December 2015, Martial House Coach wan GuangYao Eric was invited to conduct a public sharing session about his life and experience as “An Athlete, A Coach, An Entrepreneur”. During the session, Coach Eric shared about the challenges and struggles faced when he was an athlete and how he managed to overcome them. He also emphasized that winning should never be the only goal and/or motivation for athletes to practice a sport as there is so much more an athlete can gain from it. After which, he shared about how he eventually chose to pursue a career in his passion, Wushu. It was never a smooth sailing journey for Coach Eric especially when his parents were initially not supportive of his decision. However, with perseverance and the resilience to succeed, his coaching life has proven to be fulfilling. To him, the biggest satisfaction as a coach is to see the growth and development of his students. With the mission to promote Wushu as a cultural sport and art across generations, Martial House was founded. Coach Eric then explained how the Martial House team has consistently strive to explore opportunities to increase the public’s awareness of the Chinese martial art and its benefits. Following, it was an interactive Q&A segment with Y.E.S. 93.3FM TV Star Edison Zhao Wen Di as the moderator. It was indeed an insightful segment as different views and perspectives of Wushu were brought up for discussion. Martial House would like to thank Mr. Hoon Thing Leong PBM, Bishan Merchants’ Association, Bishan Community Club and Bosses Network for the invitation and opportunity.
