Finding Her Place in Wushu

Chen Xin Yue began practising Wushu in 2021 and joined Martial House in 2023. What she enjoys most is the sense of connection she finds in training, whether she is spending time with friends, working on her routines or temporarily stepping away from the fast pace of everyday life.

Within the focus and discipline of Wushu, Xin Yue found a space where she could be fully present. Training became not only an opportunity to improve, but also a meaningful part of her life.

Supported by Coaches and Teammates

At Martial House, Xin Yue found coaches who supported her journey in their own individual ways. Their encouragement and guidance gave her opportunities to develop her abilities, overcome challenges and progress towards becoming a national youth athlete.

Some of her most meaningful memories come from training alongside her original group of teammates and seniors. Friends such as Celeste, Eason and Qi Hang supported her throughout the process, reminding her that an athlete’s journey is rarely undertaken alone.

Learning Through Competition

Xin Yue remembers a time when she did not consider herself particularly good at Wushu. When she entered her debut competition, she trained hard with the simple hope of completing her event successfully.

The result she achieved became an unexpected bonus and a meaningful affirmation that her hard work was beginning to pay off. More importantly, the experience showed her how far she had progressed since first stepping into the sport.

Growing Through Setbacks

Xin Yue’s journey has included numerous setbacks, but each challenge has shaped her into a more resilient person. With the support of her coaches and teammates, she learnt to keep moving forward even when progress felt difficult.

Her coaches taught her that loving a sport means giving it your whole heart, not only when things are going well, but also when the journey becomes demanding. This lesson has shaped how Xin Yue approaches both Wushu and the challenges beyond it.

Looking Towards 2029

Looking ahead, Xin Yue hopes to sustain her place within the national-team pathway and gain opportunities to compete internationally. The 2029 SEA Games is one of the aspirations that motivates her.

At the same time, she is learning not to place excessive pressure on herself. Xin Yue wants to pursue her goals wholeheartedly while continuing to find happiness in the journey, regardless of which competitive opportunities may come.

Learning to Admire Yourself

To Xin Yue, Martial House has been transformative. It gave her the environment, guidance and opportunities to grow from a young athlete into someone capable of pursuing Wushu at the national level.

Her message to younger athletes is simple but powerful: there will always be accomplished athletes to admire, but they were once beginners too. While looking up to others, young athletes should also learn to appreciate their own effort, growth and progress, as well as recognise the athlete developing within themselves.
